Rope Hammocks

Enjoying Your Rope Hammocks

Warm days demand that we take a little down time and get away from our work and other cares. However, nor all of us can afford to take a couple weeks off and go to some exotic location. When circumstances do not allow you to get away for an extended period of time, create a mini-vacation in your own back yard.

The first step toward creating a relaxing environment is to string up your own personal rope hammock. Most often constructed of strong cotton rope, these hammocks feature a symmetrical weave design that is pleasing to the eye and also great support for your back and legs as you recline. The cotton itself is smooth as well as durable, so the weave will feel soft against your skin.

A rope hammock typically is hemmed off with cotton plaits that feature grommets that are large enough to allow for sturdy rope to be tied through them, while also grabbing into the material well enough that there is no chance for the weave to unravel. When it comes to stringing up the rope hammock, that can be done using a frame designed to accommodate hammocks, or simply by using two trees that are an appropriate distance apart.

A rope hammock comes in different sizes as well. This means that you may purchase a hammock that is big enough for yourself or you may opt for one that is big enough to allow for a cozy afternoon nap with a special someone. The important thing is to keep in mind that the hammock should be specifically designed for use by more than one person at a time, and that the hammock is secured to either a frame or to trees that are strong enough to support the weight of two people.

A rope hammock is a great way to create a backyard mini-vacation on a lazy weekend afternoon. If time or circumstances prevent you from getting away from it all, then string up a hammock and let your mind take you wherever you want to go.
